Conference Round up
The Indiana Primary Health Care Association (IPHCA) held its impactful 2024 Annual Conference, "Whole Person Care: A Sustainable Delivery System," presented by Humana Healthy Horizons in Indiana, on October 8–9 in South Bend.
The event brought together healthcare leaders, policymakers, and advocates from across the state to focus on the principles and strategies needed to deliver a whole patient care approach and develop sustainable clinical and business operations to support this approach.
Keynotes and Expert Panels
Opening the conference, Dr. Kyu Rhee, NACHC CEO, delivered a keynote on Primary Care and Health Equity for ALL. Dr. Rhee emphasized the need for all of us to understand our WHY, shared in-depth WHAT the vision and focus of all health centers should be, and HOW we work to achieve that vision.
One of the most anticipated panels, "The Journey to Value-Based Care," brought together the MCEs to discuss the future partnerships with IPHCA, the Ohio and Texas CIN leaders to share their real-world progress in their CIN development, and in-depth exploration of data and population health and how it helps close care gaps, manage high-cost patients, and informs the quality of care that is critical to the success of a CIN.
Highlighting Indiana's Whole Person Care Initiatives and Financial and Operational Strategies for Sustainable Care
The conference also delved into the financial frameworks required to sustain a whole-person approach in healthcare delivery. Curt Degenfelder shared insights in his session on "Financing the Future: Evaluating CHC Sustainability in 2024 and Beyond / Financial and Operational Issues in Value-Based Care," emphasizing data-driven decision-making and strategic financial planning. He how IPHCA is guiding health centers in adapting their financial models to prioritize holistic care while focusing on fiscal sustainability in the value-based care approach and the long-term sustainability of our health care centers.
Interactive workshops provided attendees with practical strategies and new care approaches focused on improving the quality of care, cost optimization, and funding options specific to whole-person healthcare initiatives, equipping leaders to implement financially viable programs within their organizations.
