$56 Million Awarded to HRSA-Funded Health Centers

Support for Improving Quality Health Services in High Need Communities

Today, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), awarded $56 million to support HRSA-funded health centers’ commitment to high-quality care through new investments in modernized technology. HRSA-funded health centers provide primary care to 30 million people and serve patients regardless of ability to pay. They are also leaders in health care quality, and HRSA is taking the next step in quality improvement by adopting a modernized Uniform Data System (UDS+) for health centers. UDS+ will create automated reporting platforms for quality and performance management, streamlining backend work. Read the press release.

Award recipients may use this supplemental funding for:

  • New equipment.
  • Meeting interoperability standards.
  • Providing data management training to staff.

Visit the Quality Improvement Award: UDS+ webpage for additional information. We will provide technical assistance (TA) information for awardees during the July UDS Test Cooperative (UTC) meeting:

Wednesday, July 17
2:00-3:00 p.m. ET

If you are not already a UTC member, you must register to receive the log-in information for the TA meeting. Use the BPHC Contact Form to join the UTC (we describe how later in this bulletin). If you cannot attend the July meeting, you should still join and attend future meetings.

UDS Test Cooperative (UTC)

The UTC includes staff from health centers, Primary Care Associations, Health Center Controlled Networks, and health IT vendors. We meet monthly and BPHC staff also host UDS+ Testing Office Hours bimonthly. Learn more on our UTC webpage. UTC members can log into our Health Center Program Community (HCPC) to watch recordings from past meetings and register for upcoming meetings. The HCPC is an online platform for participants in specific BPHC programs to get timely updates, interact with other health centers, and access training and TA resources.
