Traumatic Brain Injury and Addiction

Traumatic brain injuries (TBI) impact many individuals in the United States and, in some cases, can result in serious complications. While there are multiple causes of TBIs, contact sports can often result in multiple blows to the head and subsequent brain injuries.

Individuals with TBIs may be more likely to develop mental health disorders, including substance use disorders. Additionally, individuals with a substance use disorder may be more likely to develop a TBI during their use.
