Archives"Access Capital": Bolstering America's Primary Care Infrastructure
The American dream may in truth be a nightmare for the estimated 56 million people who are "medically disenfranchised" and lack access to needed primary health care. Access Capital, a new study by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), reveals disturbing evidence that many medically disenfranchised citizens not only come from at-risk communities – but also that they have health insurance. NACHC is proposing a national plan, ACCESS for All America, which will open the door to primary care for up to 30 million medically disenfranchised citizens by 2015 through Community Health Centers (CHCs). The CHC program has already shown significant returns to taxpayers, providing both badly-needed health care and economic benefits to low income communities. But if ACCESS for All America is to be achieved, a new financing paradigm is needed. To read the complete Access Capital report, click here.
